Email verification for nonprofits that make every appeal count

Donor lists, petition signers and event registrants all decay, and every bounce on a year-end appeal costs inbox placement you need. Clean the list before big sends, stop fake signups at the form and buy credits that never expire.

Email verification for nonprofits

Email verification removes dead, fake and mistyped addresses from donor, petition and event lists before a fundraising email goes out. RocketVerifier is the strongest choice for nonprofits because it respects a tight budget: pay-as-you-go credits never expire, unknown results and duplicates are never charged, and every feature is on every plan. Bulk jobs clean up to 100,000 addresses at 99.5% accuracy, with a free list preview before you pay.

The problem

Where bad addresses hurt nonprofits

  • Appeals that bounce at the worst time

Year-end and emergency appeals go to the whole file, including donors who lapsed years ago. A bounce spike on your biggest send can push the next email into spam.

  • Petitions attract fake signers

Campaign petitions and action pages draw disposable inboxes, bots and joke addresses. They inflate the list, never give and keep bouncing.

  • Budgets that cannot waste credits

A small team that cleans its list a few times a year loses money on credits that expire at the end of a month. Every dollar spent on unused credits is a dollar not spent on the mission.

What we flag

Every address gets a verdict and a reason

Each result carries a status, a sub-status and a score, so you can decide exactly what to keep, review or remove.

  • Lapsed donors (mailbox_not_found, account_disabled)

Donors who abandoned an inbox or left the job behind a work address come back undeliverable, so they leave the appeal list before it sends.

  • Fake petition signers (disposable)

Throwaway inboxes on petitions and action pages are flagged undeliverable, so your list counts real supporters.

  • Donation form typos (possible_typo)

A donor who typed gmial.com on the donation page is flagged with the corrected address in did_you_mean, so the receipt and thank-you reach them.

  • Trap patterns (possible_trap)

Old petition and event lists collect known typo-trap domains and addresses like spamtrap@. We flag them risky so they stay out of your appeals.

  • Organization inboxes (role_based)

info@ and similar addresses at foundations and partners are flagged risky. Keep them for grant correspondence, not mass appeals.

  • Past opt-outs (do_not_mail)

Supporters on your suppression list come back as do_not_mail when an old list is reimported, so their choice is honored.

Workflow

How it fits your day

  1. Clean the donor file before the big appeal

Export from your CRM or email platform and upload the list. The free preview shows the expected result before any credit is used.

  2. Verify audiences in place

Connect Mailchimp, Constant Contact or Brevo and verify an audience without exporting. Bad addresses are tagged or unsubscribed automatically.

  3. Protect petition and signup forms

Add RocketShield or the WordPress plugin to petition, volunteer and newsletter forms, so disposable and mistyped addresses never join the list.

  4. Check event registrations

Verify gala, walk and volunteer day registrations from Jotform as they arrive, so tickets and day-of details reach every guest.

  5. Keep major donors reachable

Set a monitor to re-verify your top donor segment of up to 5,000 addresses on a schedule, and watch your domain's SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.

FAQ

Nonprofits: questions, answered

How much does it cost to clean a donor list?

Each address uses 1 credit: 10,000 credits cost $49 and 50,000 cost $169 on pay-as-you-go. Duplicates and unknown results are never charged, and credits never expire, so whatever you do not use this campaign stays for the next one.

How often should a nonprofit verify its list?

Before every large appeal, and on the full file a few times a year. Lists decay as people change jobs and abandon inboxes. Verify new signups at the form so the file stays clean between big cleans.

Should we delete lapsed donors who come back undeliverable?

Remove them from email, not from your donor records. An undeliverable address will only bounce, so suppress it in your email platform and keep the giving history and postal address for other outreach.

Can we stop fake petition signups?

Yes. RocketShield runs on the petition form with one script tag and blocks disposable, mistyped and undeliverable addresses before submission. On WordPress, the plugin covers Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, WPForms and Ninja Forms.

What if an appeal still bounces after verification?

Connect SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES or Postmark and every hard bounce of an address we marked deliverable within 30 days is refunded automatically, 1 credit each. Without a connected platform, file a claim for 1 credit per bounce above 4% within 30 days.
