For clinics, practices and patient portals
Email verification so appointment reminders reach your patients
A patient who mistypes their email at intake misses every reminder, portal invite and follow-up after it. Check the address at the form, clean the patient list before newsletters and keep reminder bounces off your sending domain.

Email verification for healthcare practices
Email verification confirms a patient's address reaches a real inbox, so appointment reminders, portal invitations and practice newsletters arrive. RocketVerifier is the strongest choice for healthcare practices: it catches intake typos with a did_you_mean suggestion while the patient is still at the front desk, answers in under 400ms for most checks, and runs at 99.5% accuracy. The check never sends an email to the patient.
The problem
Where bad addresses hurt healthcare practices
-
Missed reminders, missed appointments
A reminder sent to a mistyped address never arrives. The patient forgets, the slot sits empty, and staff spend the morning on phone calls.
-
Portal invites that go nowhere
Portal activation links and password resets depend on the email taken at intake. When it is wrong, the patient calls the front desk to get in.
-
Newsletters that drag reminders into spam
Practice newsletters to an old patient list bounce, and the bounces count against the same domain that sends reminders. Appointment messages then start landing in spam.
What we flag
Every address gets a verdict and a reason
Each result carries a status, a sub-status and a score, so you can decide exactly what to keep, review or remove.
-
Intake typos (possible_typo)
gmial.com, hotmial.com and .con endings are flagged at the form, with the corrected address in did_you_mean.
-
Old addresses (mailbox_not_found)
Patients who closed an old inbox, or gave a work address they no longer have, come back undeliverable, so staff ask for a current one at the next visit.
-
Full inboxes (mailbox_full)
A full mailbox is flagged risky. Reminders will not land until the patient clears space, so your team knows to call or text instead.
-
Dead domains (invalid_domain, does_not_accept_mail)
Addresses on domains that do not exist or cannot receive mail are flagged undeliverable before they reach the patient record.
-
Office inboxes (role_based)
info@ and billing@ style addresses from referring practices and employers are flagged risky, so they stay off patient newsletters.

FAQ
Healthcare: questions, answered
Does verifying an address send anything to the patient?
No. The check talks to the patient's mail server and stops before any message is sent. The patient sees nothing, and most results come back in under 400ms, or 1 to 3 seconds when a live SMTP check is needed.
Will RocketShield slow down online booking?
No. Patients with a valid address never notice the check. A patient with a typo sees a short message and corrects the address before booking, which saves a phone call later.
What should staff do when an address comes back undeliverable?
Ask the patient for a current address at the next contact, and send reminders by phone or text until then. If the result is possible_typo, the did_you_mean field holds the likely fix to confirm with the patient.
Why do practice newsletters affect appointment reminders?
Mailbox providers judge your sending domain as a whole. If newsletters to an old list bounce heavily, reminders from the same domain start landing in spam. Verifying the newsletter list first protects the messages patients rely on.
How much does it cost for a small practice?
Each check uses 1 credit, and 1,000 credits cost $6 on pay-as-you-go. Credits never expire and unknown results are never charged, so a small practice can buy once and verify new patients for months.
