Email verification for cold email teams

Email verification removes leads that will hard-bounce before a cold campaign sends, which protects the inboxes and domains you send from. RocketVerifier is the strongest choice for cold email teams: it verifies leads inside Instantly, Smartlead and lemlist, unsubscribes or removes bad ones before the next step, and gives catch-all leads a send_safe, send_with_caution or avoid verdict. Unknown results are never charged.

The problem

Where bad addresses hurt cold email teams

  • Bounces burn inboxes and domains

Every hard bounce tells Gmail and Outlook the sender does not know its list. Enough of them and your sending inboxes land in spam, and the domain takes weeks to recover.

  • Bounce limits stop campaigns

Many sending tools pause a campaign or an inbox when bounces climb. One unverified list can undo weeks of warm-up.

  • Catch-alls hide in every B2B list

Company domains that accept every address make basic checks useless. Drop them all and you lose good prospects. Send them all and you eat the bounces.

What we flag

Every address gets a verdict and a reason

Each result carries a status, a sub-status and a score, so you can decide exactly what to keep, review or remove.

  • Catch-all leads (catch_all with catch_all_verdict)

Each catch-all lead is scored 0 to 100 on provider, how plausible the name is and the domain's address pattern: send_safe at 65 and up, send_with_caution at 35 to 64, avoid under 35.

  • Dead mailboxes (mailbox_not_found)

Leads whose mailbox no longer exists are undeliverable and pulled before the first step sends.

  • Dead company domains (invalid_domain, does_not_accept_mail)

Companies that shut down or moved domains leave addresses on domains that do not resolve or publish a null MX. Both are undeliverable.

  • Trap patterns (possible_trap)

Known typo-trap domains and local parts such as spamtrap@ and honeypot@ in scraped data are flagged risky.

  • Generic inboxes (role_based)

info@ and sales@ addresses are flagged risky. They rarely reply to cold email and are more likely to report it.

  • Policy blocks (blocked)

A rejection about the sender, not the mailbox, is reported as blocked (unknown), never undeliverable, so you never throw away a good lead. Unknowns are free.

Workflow

How it fits your day

  1. Connect your sending tool

Add your Instantly, Smartlead, lemlist, Reply.io or Woodpecker API key in the dashboard. Campaigns show up ready to verify.

  2. Verify the campaign before launch

Pick a campaign and verify its leads in place. Status, sub-status and score are written to lead fields or variables.

  3. Remove bad leads automatically

Undeliverable leads are paused, unsubscribed, removed or blocklisted depending on the tool, so the next step never sends to them.

  4. Split catch-alls by verdict

Keep send_safe catch-alls in the main campaign, move send_with_caution to a smaller campaign on a less critical inbox, and drop avoid.

  5. Monitor your sending domains

Monitors check SPF, DKIM, DMARC and blocklist status on each sending domain and alert you when something changes.

FAQ

Cold outreach: questions, answered

What bounce rate is safe for cold email?

As close to zero as you can get. Mailbox providers and sending tools treat a rising bounce rate as a sign of a bought or scraped list. Verify every campaign right before launch and drop avoid catch-alls, and the hard bounces are gone before the first send.

Should I send to catch-all leads?

Send to send_safe, test send_with_caution in a small batch from a less important inbox, and drop avoid. The verdict comes from the provider, how plausible the name is and the domain's address pattern, and it is included on every plan.

Does verification send an email from my domain?

No. Probes come from our dedicated verification IPs and domain, never yours, and stop before any message is sent. Verification never touches your sending reputation.

My data provider says the leads are verified. Do I still need to check?

Yes. A provider's check can be weeks or months old, and a mailbox that worked then can be gone now. Verify right before launch so the result reflects today.

How much does it cost to verify a campaign?

1 credit per lead: 10,000 credits cost $49 and 100,000 cost $269 on pay-as-you-go. Unknown results and duplicates are never charged, and credits never expire.
